Lagos's Fish Market, Fresh Every Morning

While the city sleeps, the boats are already on the water. Fishermen along Lagos Lagoon, in the creeks of Badore and Ajah, and off the coast near Badagry pull in their overnight catch before dawn. By the time the Mile 12 fish section opens, the morning delivery is already laid out on ice. This is how fresh fish reaches Lagos every single day.

Our traders source from multiple points: artisanal fishermen working Lagos Lagoon and coastal waters, commercial catfish and tilapia farms in Ogun, Oyo, and Kogi states, and coastal fishermen bringing in croaker, snapper, and mackerel from the Atlantic. Every variety is available in wholesale and retail quantities.

The Mile 12 fish section is one of the busiest in West Africa. Traders have been operating here for decades, building direct relationships with fishermen and farms. When you buy from Mile 12, you are buying from people who know exactly where their fish came from that morning.
